A digital citizen is one who knows what is right and wrong, exhibits intelligent technology behavior, and makes good choices when using technology.
https://www.virtuallibrary.info/digital-citizenship.html As we continue to explore learning through a variety of online programs, games and activities, we will also continue to revisit the expected behaviors of being a good digital citizen.

We have been discussing how our 7 Habits apply to being responsible digital citizens while working on devices such as chromebooks and ipads when at school and at home. We have watched videos that encourage making thoughtful and responsible choices while on the internet. CAFE - Comprehension / Accuracy / Fluency / Expand Vocabulary The images below include information about each of these strategies and how you can encourage and support your child to use them while reading at home. Last week we started to build our Reading Strategies Menu (CAFE) board. As we discuss and practice new reading strategies throughout the school year, we will be adding to the board. The strategy board will be very accessible to the students as we will be referring to it often as we work on reading goals and develop strong reading habits.
During our whole group read alouds, we have been working on the Comprehension Strategy of: Check for Understanding. Our stories this week focused on Habit #1: Be Proactive. We had great discussions that revolved around identifying thoughts and feelings and how body language is connected to these. We learned that having a Group Plan keeps us focused and that we are more successful as learners when we are all following the Group Plan. Approaching challenging situations in a more Proactive manner (water bottle), rather than a Reactive manner (pop can) will bring forth positive results and solutions. Finally, having a "can do" attitude with a Growth Mindset will help us work through challenges and move us forward in our learning and relationships with our peers. It has been a great week of read alouds!
This weeks' stories focused on building our Class Community - recognizing that we are just like a family, who care about each other, appreciate our differences, strive to be bucket fillers and value each others thoughts and ideas.
